A snippet from Paige:
”I had this idea for the Re-Wombing after speaking with other friends who have had different and similar trauma and felt as though the person they was had died. I had felt the person I knew and understood myself to be was dead. So the making of the womb is for all of us, who have died, who’s idea of themselves no longer belongs, to re-enter the cycle of becoming, crawl into the void, the womb and to see what/who is now there when the wounds close up or gape open, who is she? Then rebirth yourself, claim yourself, return to yourself and untether yourself but come back to life, the to preciousness of living, of being. And the joy that you inherently are.”
Paige Stewart is a contemporary sculpture artist whose work is strongly influenced by her background in Spiritual Psychology. Each of her bodies of work reflects some part of her learned process of healing and integration. Through sculptural abstraction, primitive modern motifs, and openings she allows people to derive their own meaning and have an opportunity for reflection and healing. She primarily uses clay for its flexibility and fluidity to communicate these ideas. Her current fabric installation sculpture is just the beginning of a series of artworks that amplify healing for others.
