BEGININGS

Hello, and welcome! I am so grateful to be able to share with you all. And excited to get this newsletter out to the world.

A new year begins now. My birthday is the 26th and I feel this time of year to be my most productive, alive, and fresh. Especially having moved to Colorado, where summer is still spring and only yesterday did the first poppy open.

I wish everyone’s year to truly begin anew with their day of birth. A time to take stock of the year behind and that ahead and set new goals, forgive the past, and be here now. Because the present is where we can take action and make change.

When I want to become present I meditate and I read. I read my spiritual books, poetry, and about the artists to whom I owe so much for the path they opened ahead of me so I too can make art.  Art began as a form of  self healing, as an entry point within. Now making art moves me from the personal to the universal and is a channel for collective healing. This change has refined my work to something beyond myself…work I could not have fathomed or made 10 years ago.

I choose to simply trust that each day when I go into that studio and am available to what's knocking on the door of my conciousness, I have fulfilled part of my purpose here. As I turn another year older I remember my own doubts about starting this career only 2 years ago and feeling like I waited too long, or was behind in some way.

But just as the poppies and hopefully the lilacs bloom in my backyard, heralding a late spring, I have to trust that everything has its own perfect timing, even me. Maybe everyone else’s summer is your spring too. I think we all have perfect timing whether we know it or not.

May what moves one, move us all as one
