LAMPS IN BRITISH VOGUE

I have been cranking in the studio making lamps, which was never really something I imagined myself doing. Though I do love a good metaphor; so bringing more light to the world can be defined by making lamps and thus providing a little light and beauty for others. Honestly, being a light to others is a lot easier for me than the process that has been involved in creating these lamps.

I imagined making a lamp to be very simple, make a form, make it hollow, buy a kit, wire it up, buy shades and sell it. I was so naive. The easiest part for me, was to make the body of the lamp; because I am a master in ceramics. The rest has been a huge learning curve and patience practice. Lamp kits are very ugly, and made of low quality materials so I learned to order all my lamp parts separately, in unfinished brass, and put each lamp together myself having custom chosen each and every aspect. Lampshades are very difficult to find well made, so I hand choose this light weave boucle fabric and have each lampshade made in Los Angeles to fit each lamp size. I know right, wtf?

So three years into thinking about having lamps for sale, I finally, really do and have I got some big news!!! My lamps are featured in the August 2024 British Vogue Magazine and online in Vogue Interiors!! It feels very exciting to embark on this new level of excellence and recognition. I know my work is good but there is a value in being recognized for the quality of the vision and execution in this way. Especially after how long it has taken for me to make it a reality.
